Robyn is an internationally renowned contemporary female Maori artist from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Maori are the indigenous people of N.Z. She has an impressive record of exhibitions during the past 25 years. She has been active in celebrating the strength and vitality of Maori ancestry and ideas in her visual presentations. Her work has also involved reflections of Maori women and of motherhood.
Robyn has gained acclaim through exhibitions in N.Z. the United States, England and Australia. She has also been involved in projects with other indigenous peoples in the U.S. including Hawaii and Australia. Robyn is well known in N.Z. for having written and illustrated a number of childrens books such as Taniwha,Paikea,Kehua and The Koroua and the Mauri Stone.She taught art at Mana College, Porirua, from 1972 to 1982.
Dooley has worked over a period of 34 years in the areas of Management, Administration (including Human Resources management) with three large N.Z. organisations - N.Z. Telecom, Wellington Regional Council andTegel Foods Ltd.
His interests lie in promoting Maori language and culture. Dooley and Robyn formed Mauri Tu Ltd 2 years ago. The company markets and sells Robyn's art including posters, print reproductions and of course original examples of her work.
